MORE . . .

Recently my work has become more sculptural, combining many turned objects and incorporating found wood or wood pieces that have not been shaped on a lathe.  Each piece uses the relationship of the parts to evoke an image and to tell a story.

Stay tuned for more . . .

COMMON ROOTS
Trees in forests live in communities.  They create ecosystems that moderate temperature, store water, create humidity and share nutrients.  Tree roots form networks for communication and support.  If we acknowledge shared roots and interdependence, maybe we could learn a thing or two from the trees.

OUT OF THE WOODS
Out of the woods come amazing things . . . wood fires give us warmth, wood gives us food, materials for shelter, clean air; and for us, the raw material for our work.

CLEAR CUT
Our forests are essential to the balance of nature and the future of the planet. The redwood forests with specimens up to 2000 years old have been logged to near extinction by the practice of clear cutting—the removal of all trees in an area at once. The "trees" in this piece—made from a long-dead redwood tree found on a construction site—symbolize all the trees we have lost.
